Near Caen, Filt shopping bags are transformed into Longchamp bags
The Filt company based in Mondeville (Calvados) has been manufacturing supply nets since 1860. In February 2020, a collaboration was born with Longchamp.

A know-how that seduces
The story of this 100% French collaboration began in February 2020 when Catherine Cousin, co-manager of the Filt house with Jean-Philippe, her husband, received a call from the artistic director of Longchamp. “She had seen our nets in our various points of sale in Paris. There is a whole know-how and a story behind our products and that's what appealed to us”, explains Catherine Cousin.

Here she is a few weeks after this phone call, in the offices of Longchamp in Paris, “I had prepared samples of nets with top-of-the-range cotton and in different colors”. And everything happened very quickly for both brands.
Filt nets in the Longchamp spring/summer collection
The production of nets has started in the Filt workshop since March. “This is the spring/summer 2021 collection so they will only be sold in Longchamps boutiques and corners from April,” specifies Catherine, who is already receiving calls.
Six colors will be offered "with the development of a powder pink that we did not yet have at home", continues the manager. The provision nets are therefore made in Mondeville, six people work on them, with "very high-end" Egyptian cotton.
They are then sent to the Longchamp factory in Anjou. “It's the brand that takes care of putting on the handles and the leather closure symbolic of Longchamp because we don't have the skills in leather goods”. The price of this new Longchamp bag is not yet known. "We are placing ourselves on a top-of-the-range product in terms of the brand and the materials used", specify the Cousins.
This surprise collaboration is very warmly welcomed by the Norman company. “It's very rewarding, that's for sure. It also reflects a respect for our know-how. We have always been careful to keep our guideline of a heritage product”.
