The control of the gendarmes was more than fruitful. While carrying out a control operation at the Lestelle-de-Saint-Martory (Haute-Garonne) tollbooth, on the A64, south-west of Toulouse, the men of the Estancarbon motorized platoon discovered a a real treasure for fashion addicts with little regard for product quality.
In one of the vehicles checked, the gendarmes indeed seized counterfeit branded clothing, shoes, caps and bags. And of course the counterfeits did not concern low-end brands, but rather the best of luxury: Dior, Lacoste, Adidas, Prada, Kenzo, Louis Vuitton...
In total, 1154 parts were seized from the vehicle. Estimated value: 71,900 euros.
The passengers of the vehicle were heard by the gendarmes and will soon be summoned to court.
On its Facebook page, the Haute-Garonne gendarmerie gives advice on how to spot counterfeit products. Unusual place of sale; products with defects or mediocre quality: badly printed labels or labels with spelling errors or even poor quality packaging are all clues that should alert consumers.
