A fisherman discovered under a bridge in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles (Gironde), on August 23 at 6 p.m., a bag containing nearly 500 stolen jewels: rings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, cufflinks, watches...

He immediately alerted the gendarmes of the town who set up, with the men of the Mérignac company, a surveillance device “to arrest any people who would come back to collect the loot”.

At 9:35 p.m., two men showed up to retrieve the bag and were arrested by the soldiers.

They tried to explain that they were fishermen, in vain.
