"The police, informed around 12:00 of a possible robbery on Place Vendôme, chased a car with three occupants and two scooters," said the police source. The investigation, opened for "theft with a weapon and in an organized gang" and "criminal association", was entrusted to the brigade for the repression of banditry (BRB) of the Paris judicial police, indicated the Paris prosecutor's office.

The targeted jewelery is that of the Bulgari brand, according to a source familiar with the matter, who however adds that "it is still too early to talk about the damage". The vehicle, a gray BMW, was abandoned after a chase with the police in the 4th arrondissement, in the center of the capital. A police officer shot and injured one of the criminals in the leg, who was then arrested. A second man, who had taken refuge in the underground parking lot of the Forum des Halles, was also arrested.

The summer has already been marked by two major jewelry store robberies in Paris. On July 27, a man on a scooter had taken over a loot valued at 2 million euros in the Chaumet brand. He had been arrested the next day with his accomplice and most of the damage found. Three days later, two men, armed with a stun gun and a tear gas canister, stole 400,000 euros worth of jewelry from a Dinh Van store.
