Indonesia: south of Lombok, the other Kuta
Kuta, it's not in Bali...
Isolation sometimes has good. Située au sud de Lombok, la petite ville de Kuta n’est reliée à Bali par aucun ferry. Pour s’y rendre, il faut passer par le port de Lembar puis sauter dans un van.Those who arrive in Lombok by plane are more likely, the airport being about thirty kilometers from the city. Mataram, la capitale, est distante de 70 km, et Senggigi, cœur touristique de Lombok, de 100 km environ.
In fact, the very preserved Kuta region has developed little hotel infrastructure.The Asian crisis of the late 90s presented a project from Mega Resort Real estate on the coast, of which there is only a novotel left.Kuta has therefore retained its authenticity, the south coast of Lombok has remained wild, with dream beaches.For how much longer ?No one knows, but time seems counted.In the city, advertising signs now announce several real estate projects.
For the tourist, Kuta comes down roughly two streets, one perpendicular and the other parallel to the beach, 3 km long long.The locality has its share of small restaurants and hotels with a rather routine atmosphere, while remaining a village of fishing and peaceful farmers, with its sheds and huts.
At the end of the afternoon, at low tide, families come to survey the foreshore to collect shells, in the steam of the spray and the serene glow of the sunset.Bordering the superb beach of Kuta, two imposing rocks give the stage of the tunes of print.Basically, the waves tirelessly beat the coral barrier.
In the evening, the animation comes down to the Warungs brazings and a bar where a local rock group plays.And then, nothing else ... Here, it's not Bali.
