Specializing in weaving, textile manufacturing and leather goods, the Lecuyer group has launched a major recruitment campaign and is looking for leather workers for its two sites in Lisieux (Calvados): its headquarters, in the industrial zone, and Les Ateliers d' Auge, created in 2020 a few meters further, in the former premises of Cap Profilé.

The objective is to hire “50 to 80 leather workers per year for the next three years”, announces Charles Odend'hal, the CEO. Important figures, which testify to the good health and development of this company created in 1725:

An on-site training platform

Leatherworkers, as well as experienced dressmakers, can apply to the company, which offers six-month fixed-term contracts or permanent contracts depending on the profile. They will be able to “work with noble materials” and make luxury leather goods, from cutting and preparing the leather to finishing, including assembly and stitching. Lecuyer wants to “raise their skills as they go along” and “teach them to know the products”, explains Claire Leterrier, recruitment and skills manager.

After a presentation of the company and the device, those who wish can register for a test session, aimed at evaluating their ability to learn the trade. People who have reached a minimum score will be invited to an interview with the employer, before starting in early October in a theoretical and practical training of a dozen weeks, on the company's machines. If all goes as planned, they will be offered a six-month fixed-term contract.

Skill and know-how

What profiles are sought? The trade of leatherworker, and even more that of luxury leatherworker, for which “the level of requirement is very high”, requires “great skill in the hands” explains Claire Leterrier. Charles Odend'hal, for example, spotted "interesting profiles" among "florists, hairdressers, people who work in furniture", accustomed to using their hands and who show "significant dexterity".

Everyone is responsible for their production, must see if there is a defect in the product and report it. Communication is important, don't get stuck with a question or hide an error. » New arrivals are supported:

Recruitment will be “staggered” in order to “integrate newcomers in the best conditions”. Two other training sessions are planned for December 2021 and early 2022, this time with the Region. Lecuyer also hires “line managers and supervisors to support the growth” of the group.

Information meeting for the training session, Friday September 10, 2021 at Pôle Emploi. Registration with the Pôle Emploi agency in Lisieux or via this page. Leatherworkers who want to apply can contact 02 31 31 31 40, send an unsolicited application or respond to an offer on the site.
