The shops of Barcelona storm this weekend my newsletter

The shops of Barcelona were assaulted by customers, during the weekend of the Constitution bridge, in particular the big brands at the expense of the smallest shops.

It’s a real compact crowd that we’ve been able to observe in the streets of the city center of Barcelona during the long weekend of the Constitution Bridge.

Large shops have experienced a real rush that they had not seen for a long time, especially on the Portal of the inGel.A head of clothing store entrusts to El Periódico: "It's crazy this bridge, we even sell more than in 2019".The same store claims to have made € 10,000 in more profits this Sunday, compared to two years ago.

In another point of sale of the same scale, on the Passeig de Gràcia, we assure that last week's turnover exceeds, here again, those of the same period in 2019.

But not all stores know the same assault: the little ones are not as frequented, and luxury shops have not yet seen all their wealthy customers come back.

Back to consumption, in the shops of Barcelona

The crowd of customers of this weekend reassures great brands a lot: it marks a great return to consumption, after a crisis and insecurity due to the pandemic.

The manager of a center lingerie shop explains to El Periódico that, as customers have not spent as much for Christmas 2020, there is all the more desire to return to normal this year.

Another way to explain the success of shops during the bridge: the return of international tourists, who come to spend in Barcelona stores.Even if an official mentions customers from Morocco, Egypt, the United States or even Mexico, European tourists are the most numerous, especially in France and Germany.

While inflation is in recent elevation in recent months and raises prices, some traders denounce the fact that customers go to the cheapest products because they have less purchasing power.
