Always obsessed with the future, adidas has worked hard to stay ahead of the competition when it comes to the metaverse. The German sportswear giant did just that by partnering with the Bored Ape Yacht Club and recently brought on a luxury brand Prada for its latest foray into the new digital frontier: a user-generated NFT (non-fungible token) art project.

The first-of-its-kind interactive proposal will use the Polygon Web3 blockchain and consist of 3,000 individual tiles that the global metaverse community could contribute to. Digital artist and educator Zach Lieberman was also included in the project, eventually being tasked with developing a final artwork that will be auctioned.adidas Originals has pledged proceeds from primary sales to two climate-focused organizations – Slow Factory and UNESCO Sea Beyond;as is made possible with NFTs, a percentage of any secondary sales of Lieberman's artwork will be split among the creators of the artwork each time it is sold. were dropped on January 13 – will be minted as unique NFTs, giving each contributor ownership of said work.
