100% made in Brittany, 100% from recycled or 100% recyclable products. This is the promise of Ateliers AGE, specialists in embellishment, binding, paper cutting, located in Rennes and Nantes. This week, the SME of around forty employees diversify its activity, and it is a great upheaval. She embarks on the Ateliers du Bag project, to make luxury "shopping bags".In other words, luxury paper bags.It is by noting the drop in volumes and activity among its historic partners, printers, that the boss, Cyril-Alexandre Blanc, has embarked on this new activity. It plans to manufacture 15 million bags per year.

What are you going to start producing this week?

Luxury shopping bags, it is a rather thick paper bag, which is rather embellished with beautiful little cords, but the common point of all these products is that they are beautiful products. We started studying the market and we realized that no one produced these products in France. The majority of these products came from Asia, traveled 24.000 km and today, to import them into France on containers which is about 3.000 dollars.Today, we are between 15 and 17.000 dollars the container.

So your small business said that there was a market to take?

We are a very small SME.We have around forty employees. And yes, we thought there was a market to take.It asked us heavy industrial efforts and we get started on this market.I just come back from the Made in France fair.I spoke with many brands that are completely inclined to play the game with us and play the Made in France card.We think that we, with our small factory, will be able to gain responsiveness and provide them with bags in record time and produce clean eco products designed either products are recycled or products that will be 100% recyclable.

Made in France, and made in Brittany even?

I would even say, 100% made in Brittany.Of course, we still address the national market, but I even want to tell you that we are also talking to the European market. And if everything can come from Brittany, I hope to have a great societal impact on our region, and continue to recruit and continue to grow.

And are we aiming far, in terms of production volume?

Today, we will be able, with these machines, to provide almost 15 million bags per year, which is ultimately extremely not very compared to the market. We are never very confident. We are always, of course, on the reserve.Investments were made on investments that are very heavy for our size, but we go because we believe it.
