LVMH wants to recruit 25,000 young people under 30, including 5,000 in France

The luxury group LVMH announces that it wants to recruit "25,000 young people under the age of 30 worldwide by the end of 2022", including some 5,000 in France on internship or apprenticeship contracts and 2,500 on permanent contracts.

These recruitments, up around 25% compared to an ordinary year, will be made "in all types of professions, at all hierarchical levels, in all of our houses", specified Chantal Gaemperle, director of human resources. , during a press conference on Wednesday 22 September.

280 different professions

LVMH brings together wine and spirits brands (Moët & Chandon, Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart…) fashion and leather goods (Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Céline, Fendi, Marc Jacobs…) but also perfumes (Guerlain…), jewelry (Bulgari, Tiffany…) and watches (Chaumet, Tag Heuer…). It is also active in selective distribution (DFS, Sephora), hotels (Cheval Blanc) and the press (Les Echos-Le Parisien).

"We want to encourage vocations and accompany these young people in our homes, reveal the richness and diversity of our 280 professions, make them known to people who might not have thought of them, without lowering our demands", continued Chantal Gaemperle.

"It's a question of survival" for the group, she said, faced with a "shortage of talent in catering, in-store sales, jewelry or leather goods, where we have great difficulty recruiting ".

Diploma courses

Faced with these difficulties, in 2014 the group created the "Institut des métiers d'excellence" (IME), a partner today of 24 schools in 6 countries (France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Germany and Japan), which delivered diploma training – in creation, craftsmanship and manufacturing or even sales – to some 1,400 people.

About 80% of them then joined LVMH, said Chantal Gaemperle, adding that some 330 apprentices aged 16 to 57, some of them in professional retraining, will return to IME in October.

The group has also created the digital platform www.insidelvmh.com, where 50 hours of content on luxury businesses are available free of charge, as well as a 30-hour certified training course.

LVMH also organizes the "Village of Professions of Excellence" every year for middle and high school students in Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil and supports the Vocations Institute for Employment, chaired by Brigitte Macron, which aims to promote the insertion of adults over the age of 25 who have dropped out of work.
