Vice-President Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, landed at Paris-Orly airport
She made her first trip to Europe as vice-present, and the first woman to hold this position in the history of the United States. Kamala Harris settled in Paris this Tuesday, November 9, with her husband since 2014, Douglas Emhoff, with whom she arrived at Paris-Orly airport. An official trip during which the Vice-President will meet President Emmanuel Macron in person, honor the American troops who fell on French soil and visit the Pasteur Institute. A stay also necessary to ease the latest tensions that have arisen between Paris and Washington, following the severe disagreement over the contract for Australian nuclear submarines not delivered to France.
In an own statement before leaving, Kamala Harris said: “The alliance between the United States and France is the oldest in the United States and one of the strongest. I look forward to discussing with President Macron our joint work on the most pressing challenges of our time, including the climate crisis, the global health crisis and regional security issues. We will also discuss new opportunities for space collaboration.”

From the Pasteur Institute to the Élysée
This Tuesday, November 9, Kamala Harris must visit the Pasteur Institute to meet American and French scientists working on the Covid-19 virus. A visit that makes sense to her, because it was with this institute that her mother had partnered in her research on breast cancer in the 1980s. She will be received on Wednesday November 10 by Emmanuel Macron at the Palais de l 'Élysée, to discuss "European security, Indo-Pacific, global health", according to the White House.

Thursday November 11, the “Veterans Day” in the United States, the couple Harris-Emhoff will be together to visit the American cemetery and memorial of Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine), near Paris. The American vice-president will also participate in the ceremonies commemorating the 1918 armistice that ended the First World War. The same day, she will go to the Paris Peace Forum, organized by Emmanuel Macron. She will attend the Paris Conference on Libya on Friday, November 12 to express American support for the Libyan people. And to conclude this Parisian marathon, Kamala Harris and her husband will make a detour on Saturday November 13 by the American embassy located in the 8th arrondissement.
