Gianni does not compete with Roberto for the quantity of glamorous photos stored on his phone but, in thirty-four years in Cipriani, he stored dozens of stories of crowned heads, paparazzi prowling on the lagoon and writers waving theShaker behind the bar.In terms of heads of state, he remembers Jimmy Carter making his daily jog without bodyguard on the quay of the zitel and Mikhail Gorbachev launched with humor in the lobby: "Is there a room for me?", While his arrival had been preceded by a meticulous inspection by the secret services.He also tells that François Mitterrand was an unconditional of the Guinness suite, that Jacques Chirac "arrived dressed like a prince, warmly praised the staff and remembered the first names of each", unlike Valéry Giscard d'Estaing deemed "arrogant".

The three sisters
Inaugurated in 1958, the Cipriani is the Anglo-Saxon glamor resort which lacked at the Cité des Doges.His decor both Hollywood and relaxed attracts a skillfully dosed international clientele on the field: rich cultivated Americans, French nobility, English aristocracy, kings, princesses and artists of all continents.Its architectural style, a modern and bottom of the ceiling building, says nothing about baroque flamboyance or the neoclassical grandeur of the Serenissime, unlike the palaces already in place, all of old family properties of Doges: Danieli, a palace of the 15th century, belonged to the Dandolo, the Gritti at Doge Andrea Gritti ... Even the Bauer, however considered "modern", represents a concentrate of know-how and traditions with its marquetries, its silks and its Murano glassworks.
