Parmi eux, on compte une pierre biseautée utilisée par les chasseurs-cueilleurs du Mésolithique tardif (7000-4000 avantJ.-VS.)))) et des fragments de poterie provenant probablement d’une urne funéraire de l’âge du Bronze(2100-1750 avantJ.-VS.)))).These are the oldest traces of human occupation on the island uncovered.

7.In the horrors cave

Située dans le désert deJudée, en Israël, la grotte des Horreurs (surnommée ainsi en raison du grand nombre de squelettes, notamment d’enfants, qui y ont été découverts)))) abritait un véritable trésor archéologique ! De fouilles préventives, visant à préserver les sites culturels du pays menacés par les pilleurs, ont en effet permis d’y découvrir différents fragments de parchemins bibliques vieux de 2000 ans, un squelette d’enfant, partiellement momifié, de 6000 ans, des pièces de monnaie du Ier siècle aprèsJ.-VS.but also the oldest basket copy in the world. VSonstitué de roseaux tressés et miraculeusement conservé, il a près de 10 500 ans et aurait donc été réalisé un millénaire avant l’apparition de la poterie au Proche-Orient.

8.Souvenirs of the black plague

Surprenante histoire que celle de cette mosaïque romaine créée pour l’un des luxueux navires de l’empereur VSaligula (12-41 ap.J.-VS.)))) and converted into a coffee table. VS’est en 2013, lors d’une séance de dédicace, que Dario Del Bufalo, spécialiste des marbres polychromes, entend une antiquaire s’exclamer devant une reproduction présentée dans son ouvrage consacré au porphyre. VSelle-ci vient en effet de reconnaître le fragment de mosaïque qu’elle a acquis dans les années 1960 et dont elle a fait l’un de ses meubles préférés dans son appartement de New York. Témoin des festivités de l’empereur despote, la mosaïque a d’abord passé plusieurs siècles au fond du lac de Nemi (Italie)))) avant d’être repêchée et de disparaître à nouveau durant de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Malheureusement pour sa propriétaire actuelle (et heureusement pour les curieux que nous sommes)))), l’objet a été saisi et rapatrié en Italie.It is now exhibited at the Museum of Roman ships in the city of Nemi.

10.Pompeii in the basement
