Pulmonary infection – Coronavirus Covid-19 (20/12/2021)

Due to the circulation of the COVID-19 virus and its variants which remains active (the pandemic figures can be consulted on the website of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control), any entry into France and any exit from our territory is framed. Therefore, it is advisable to be carefully and imperatively informed of the regulations in force by referring in particular to the COVID-19 alert in the travel advice for, on the one hand, to check whether the trip to or from the country envisaged is subject to the regime of compelling reasons, on the other hand, to respect the health measures put in place when entering French territory.

In this context, it is strongly recommended not to travel to Nigeria.

Measures in force for entering France from Nigeria

Due to the particularly active circulation of the epidemic or the spread of certain variants, reinforced measures have been put in place for travel to France from several countries, including Nigeria.

All travelers aged twelve or over, regardless of vaccination status, coming from these countries/territories must present at boarding the negative result of a PCR test or an antigen test (TAG) carried out less than 48 hours before the flight. Vaccinated travelers may be subject to antigen testing upon arrival.

In addition, unvaccinated travelers from these countries/territories:

Children under the age of twelve are exempt from the test. On the other hand, the measures of compelling reasons and quarantine applied to adults extend under the same conditions to minors accompanying them.

Measures in force for leaving France for Nigeria

People who are not vaccinated or who have an incomplete vaccination schedule must provide proof of a compelling reason in order to be authorized to leave French territory to go to Nigeria. For more information, click here.

On the other hand, people with a complete vaccination schedule do not have to justify a compelling reason to travel to Nigeria.

Conditions of access to Nigeria:

All travelers arriving in Nigeria must present a negative PCR test taken no later than 48 hours before the departure date, which must be translated into English.

Travelers not vaccinated against COVID -19 must take a second PCR test on the 2nd day after arrival in Nigeria, then a third PCR test on the 7th day at an approved laboratory ( results are usually given within 48 hours). Until the result of the third test, they have the obligation to go into quarantine, at their home or at the hotel. The quarantine ends as soon as the traveler receives the negative result of the third PCR test carried out.

Travelers fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are not subject to the 7-day quarantine period. They must, however, take a second PCR test on the 2nd day after arrival in Nigeria. In the event of a positive result of this PCR test, they have the obligation to quarantine for a period of 7 days. Quarantine ends as soon as the traveler receives a negative result from a performed PCR test.

The list of approved laboratories can be found on the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) website.

Before departure, passengers must check in online and prepay for their second COVID-19 PCR test on the NCDC website.

As the regulations are likely to be modified without notice by the Nigerian authorities, in view of the evolution of the disease in the country, it is advisable to obtain information at the time of departure from the Nigerian authorities and the airlines.

The Nigerian Center for Disease Control has set up a hotline (0800 9700 0010) for people seeking information.

Measures in force on Nigerian territory:

In Nigeria, the following measures have been taken to combat the spread of the virus:

As these instructions may vary with short notice, information should be found on the official Nigerian NCDC website.

Call for maximum vigilance – risk of attack

As a reminder, the risk of an attack being high, French residents or those passing through abroad are called upon to show maximum vigilance.

In particular, you should stay away from any gatherings and be careful when moving around. It is also recommended to keep informed of the situation and the risks, by consulting the recommendations of the Travel Advice.
