Grenade. Nathalie Périé: "Creating jewelry is a pleasure!"

The Tourist Office shop displays the objects of several craftsmen from Save et Garonne. Nathalie Périé, who lives in Ondes, has created and produced a pretty collection of colorful jewelery with a very original look.

Have you been making jewelry for a long time?

I have always been very attracted to manual activities, when I was little I made dresses for my dolls with bits of fabric, then bracelets made of beads and cotton threads and collages of buttons to make earrings. ears. As far as polymer clay is concerned, I discovered it a little by chance while walking around a creative leisure fair.

What type of training did you follow?

Grenade. Nathalie Périé:

I did several internships, then I started on my own. Ideas and creativity come by practicing. Creating is above all a pleasure.

All your jewelry is very colorful?

I really like the colors. I get inspired by a bit of everything, fashion, magazines and some polymer jewelry designers. But I mostly use colors like pink, green, turquoise and of course black.

What materials do you use today?

I use polymer clay, which is a synthetic material, and modeling clay, which has a soft consistency with different colors that can be mixed together.

Have you got your own stuff?

With the paste I also use additives like metallic powders, dry pastels, drops of ink to tint the transparent paste and also gold and silver leaf. The main tools I use, aside from my fingers, are the rolling pin and the dough maker and the blades.

What's your little extra?

After firing my pieces are sanded with very fine grit wet sandpaper. The sanding work is long and not very pleasant but very useful for beautiful finishes. Finally for a shiny appearance, I varnish the beads with three coats of resin.

You can find Nathalie Périé's necklaces, rings and earrings at the Tourist Office shop every day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., except Sundays.
