Gibert, Furet du Nord, Momox: where to resell unwanted books?

If some of your books are gathering dust and you don't know what to do with them, don't throw them away. Opt instead for the resale of books which will allow you to make a small sum easily by reselling them via stores or online stores and in addition, it is super easy. Explanations.

What to do with your old books?

The resale or recovery of books allows you to resell your books and obtain money or vouchers in exchange for your pleasure. It's very easy and it avoids throwing away beautiful books and even textbooks that other people might like or be interested in.

Generally books and especially mangas do not resell at high prices, but it is always nice to earn a small percentage thanks to our old books. When you choose to resell your books, remember to check the resale conditions of the sites and stores to which you turn. These are not the same depending on the place of resale.

Finally, if you opt to donate books, you can turn to the book boxes in your city, which allow you to drop off old books and (perhaps) leave with another one for free. Otherwise, turn to Libraries Without Borders, an NGO that allows you to donate books, textbooks... so that they can be made available to populations in need.

Resell your books in store

Some stores offer to take back your books and resell them, but not all of them work the same way.

Gibert, Northern Ferret, Momox: where to resell books you no longer want?

The Gibert stores, which you can find online, take back your books and resell them directly in their stores. It is therefore the ideal option to give a second life to your books. To resell your books at Gibert, you must register at least 3 articles for a minimum amount of €15 on the site. This will trigger a purchase offer and you can then continue registering the rest of your books to resell. Then go to the store (or send your books by post) to receive your money.

A word of advice: before reselling your books, don't forget to consult the quality charter that Gibert makes available to find out the conditions for taking them back. Indeed, Gibert does not take back books whose covers are damaged or faded, nor books whose pages are unstuck, for example.

Some bookstores like Furet du Nord offer to take back your second-hand books in exchange for vouchers. Go to the store's website to enter the barcode of the books you wish to resell (for a maximum of 50 books per trade-in) and see the estimated amount of your trade-in. Be careful despite everything because some books are not taken back, we advise you to check the conditions of recovery to be sure that it is possible for you to do so. Once your books are registered, drop them in store quickly to get your voucher to use in all Furet du Nord stores.

The third solution is to turn to Easy Cash, which is a second-hand store. Not all Easy Cash shops take back books, so to check that this is the case, call the store near you directly to make sure. Once this has been verified, move to have your books estimated and put them up for resale in the shop.

Resell your books online

If you don't want to go to the store, the online resale solution can be very practical.

Momox is an online platform that allows you to buy and resell used books. Enter the barcode numbers of your books to get an offer to buy, then send them by parcel for free and receive your payment to then treat yourself (perhaps by buying new books). We advise you to consult the conditions of resale to be sure that your books will be taken back. You will not be able to resell books with inscriptions or annotations, nor those with missing accessories (integrated audio CD for example).

The Book Exchange allows you to resell your books by indicating the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) found in the barcode. This number identifies the edition of each book. Then send your books directly from home or by dropping them off at the nearest La Fnac store. Once sold, you will receive your due. If your books do not sell after a certain period of time, you can choose to collect them or leave them with La Bourse aux livres so that they can send them to Bibliothèque sans frontières to give them a second life.
