A sensitive subject dealt with brilliantly

We are in France, in Paris, in 1941, during the 2nd World War. Daniel Auteuil stars as Joseph Haffman, a jeweler and Jew. In his jewelry works François, his employee played by Gilles Lellouche, a guy not really happy in life... But then, at that time, France is occupied, the legislation is getting tougher against Jews and Mr. Haffman is going to leave for the free zone with her family. He first sends his wife and children away and goes to join them. But first, he makes a deal with François, his employee: he leaves him everything he has: his jewelry, but also his apartment, his customers, etc. etc. In exchange for a promise: at the end of the war, he will be able to recover them. Farewell Mr. Haffman, the new jewel of Fred Cavayé

As you have understood, the film first deals with a complicated subject: that of the Jews in France under the occupation, a rather puzzling subject, treated really intelligently by the director Fred Cavayé. And the film also shows us how a man who we will say "normal" can suddenly become a monster. And it's true that no one gets up in the morning saying "I'm going to do bad things", it's not innate to be a bastard, it's the circumstances of life that will lead you to take a path rather than another. We all want to imagine ourselves resisting, savior of the nation at war, but the truth is that as long as we have not been in this situation we do not know anything about it. 20 years ago, Gérard Jugnot told with "Monsieur Batignolles" the story of an average Frenchman who becomes a hero by force of circumstance. Well in Adieu Monsieur Haffman, Fred Cavayé has decided to show you the other possibility, that of becoming a monster. Basically, there was a play that got a lot of awards, you may have seen it. In any case, know that the film is not really like the play. The film, which hits theaters on Wednesday, is rather dark and treated as a thriller. The actors are excellent and I obviously have to quote Sara Giraudeau who is also very fair in the role of the woman who sees her husband turn into a piece of trash she no longer recognizes. Farewell Mr. Haffman it's currently at the cinema, go ahead, it's a gem
