In her workshop in Oncy-sur-École (Essonne), Fabienne Gasselin cuts, drawing, glue, superimposes.For more than 20 years, the artist has been working from large glass plates to create unique pieces: utility or decoration objects, in particular trays, lamps and jewelry.

Widely inspired by Art-Deco, Fabienne Gasselin particularly seeks movement and relief in his creations."Since Petite, I have always bathed in this idea of movement thanks to my father and my grandfather who were recognized artists".

Glass plates merged at 800 ° C

In the design of his glass objects, the Essonnian artist uses several techniques like fusing.

Once its composition is finished, the artist puts it in her oven, where she will cook for 24 hours allowing the different pieces of glass to merge."The temperature rises slowly until reaching 800 ° C before descending slowly," says Fabienne Gasselin who has changed by chance in her artist profession.

For many years, the artist has scoured the salons to present and sell his creations.

Mastering the Tiffany technique

In the meantime, Fabienne Gasselin exhibits her lamps in the window of the Matis Beauty Institute in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne).Lamps that she designed according to another old glass working technique, the Tiffany.

"As for fusing, I cut pieces of glass tinted or not before not to cook them, but to assemble them with each other thanks to the welding with a copper ribbon," describes the artist Ombénéne.
